Galati-Backed Investment Group Unveils Plans for Major High Wycombe Shopping Hub

High Wycombe appears poised to welcome a significant new neighbourhood shopping centre, with plans spearheaded by an investment group co-owned by prominent Perth businessman Tony Galati. The development would be anchored by a 24-hour Spudshed supermarket, creating a convenient retail hub for the growing community.

Comprehensive Development Proposal Now Open for Public Feedback

The ambitious proposal, currently open for public comment through DevelopmentWA until Friday, February 13, outlines a substantial 1800-square-metre neighbourhood centre. Beyond the flagship Spudshed supermarket, the development would feature a Revo gym, a liquor store, a chemist, two fast-food outlets, and three showroom tenancies. This diverse mix of services aims to provide comprehensive daily and weekly needs for local residents and workers.

GG Retail Investment No. 1 Pty Ltd, which owns the land and is co-owned by Tony Galati and his brother Vincent, is leading the project. The designated site is located along Milner Road, near Sultana Road West, within the established High Wycombe project area. According to planning documents prepared by Apex Planning, the centre is designed to be a high-quality, employment-focused hub centred around High Wycombe Station, aligning with State planning frameworks.

Infrastructure and Environmental Considerations Detailed in Application

The development application includes substantial infrastructure planning to support the new centre. A total of 247 car parking spaces are proposed, alongside three crossovers onto Milner Road. In a positive environmental move, the plans also include planting 69 trees throughout the site to enhance the local streetscape.

A traffic impact assessment projects that, when fully operational, the centre would generate approximately 4921 vehicle movements per day. Planning authorities indicate this volume falls within the projected capacity of the surrounding road network. Future infrastructure improvements are also anticipated as part of the area's structure plan, including upgrades to two existing intersections along Milner Road to roundabouts and the creation of a signalised intersection at the southwestern corner of the site where a new connector road will meet Milner Road.

Multi-Stage Development with Significant Community Benefits

While the exact value of the development remains undisclosed, estimates suggest it falls within the $2 million to $50 million range. This current application represents only the first stage of development for the lot, with a remaining 8374 square metres earmarked for future development in a second stage.

The planning application emphasises the community benefits of the proposal, stating it will create an active area and contribute positively to the local streetscape. Developers believe it will provide residents, workers, and commuters in High Wycombe's growing residential catchment with a convenient local focal point for essential services. Following the public consultation period, DevelopmentWA will make a determination on the application at a later date.
