Perth Petrol Prices Set to Skyrocket on Sunday Amid Middle East Conflict Chaos

Petrol prices in Perth are poised to reach a fresh peak on Sunday, with the average cost of unleaded fuel climbing across Western Australia, as ongoing turmoil in the Middle East continues to disrupt global oil markets and drive up costs for consumers.

Metropolitan Price Surge and Retailer Trends

Across the Perth metropolitan area, unleaded petrol prices are expected to range from 212.0¢ to 259.9¢ per litre, reflecting an overall upward trend that shows no signs of abating. According to FuelWatch, the metropolitan average price for unleaded will increase to 228.7¢ per litre on Sunday, up marginally from 228.6¢ on Saturday.

Most major fuel retailers are implementing price hikes, with BP forecast to record the highest average at 231.1¢ per litre, followed closely by Caltex at 230.6¢ and 7-Eleven at 229.8¢. In contrast, Ampol's average price is expected to remain steady at 225.8¢, while Vibe is the only brand anticipated to see a slight decrease, easing to 226.7¢.

Diesel and Premium Fuel Increases

The price surge extends beyond unleaded petrol, with diesel costs also on the rise. Diesel prices are set to increase from 265.8¢ to 262.8¢ per litre, while brand diesel will pinch pockets further, climbing to 272.2¢ per litre—an increase of 3.8¢. Premium unleaded fuel will also see a hike, rising to 244.4¢ per litre, although LPG, 98 RON, and E85 are expected to remain unchanged.

Regional Impact and Northern Price Peaks

Regional motorists are not spared from the price spikes, with average unleaded petrol prices forecast to reach elevated levels across key areas. Tomorrow's prices are projected to hit 232.1¢ in Albany, 226.0¢ in Bunbury and Busselton, 231.9¢ in Esperance, and 231.1¢ in Geraldton.

Prices are even more pronounced in the northern regions, with Karratha averaging 231.0¢ per litre and Port Hedland and South Hedland reaching a staggering 243.3¢ per litre, highlighting the widespread financial strain on drivers throughout WA.

The ongoing Middle East conflict has created significant chaos in global oil supplies, contributing to these sharp increases. Consumers are advised to monitor FuelWatch updates and plan their refuelling accordingly to mitigate the impact of these rising costs.
