Billionaire's Company Found Guilty of Illegal Lottery Operations in South Australia
A company established by billionaire Adrian Portelli has been convicted for conducting illegal lotteries in South Australia. Xclusive Tech, which operates under the name LMCT Plus and offers prizes such as cash, vehicles, and multimillion-dollar homes to paying participants, was found guilty of 10 separate breaches that occurred in 2023 and 2024.
Court Ruling and Fines Imposed
A magistrate determined that the company lacked the necessary licence to operate in South Australia, emphasizing that there must be consequences for such actions. As a result, Xclusive Tech was fined $40,000. The state's gambling commissioner criticized the conduct, describing it as a deliberate disregard for legislative requirements.
Portelli's Acquittal and Current Whereabouts
Adrian Portelli, the Melbourne businessman famously known for using a crane to lift a McLaren into his penthouse, was cleared of any wrongdoing and acquitted of all charges. He did not appear in court and is currently residing in Dubai.
Previous Warnings Ignored
The court revealed that the company had been formally notified in 2021 that its lotteries must exclude South Australian residents, a directive that was ignored. The magistrate concluded the hearing by noting that no concerns were raised regarding the company's ability to pay the imposed fine.
