The most affordable station in Western Australia is Gracie's General in Gracetown, where prices are expected to hit 199.0 cents per litre. In the Perth metropolitan area, the Vibe outlets in Nollamara lead with a price of 199.5 cents per litre, closely followed by stations in Hamilton Hill and Mt Helena at 199.9 cents per litre. This data underscores the widespread nature of the price hikes, affecting both regional and urban areas.
Trucking Industry Concerns Over Diesel Costs
Beyond the impact on everyday drivers, trucking companies are expressing growing alarm over the escalating price of diesel. 'I'm definitely concerned,' Picos stated. 'We're still in the fairly early stages, but if this persists long-term, it's going to be much more of a problem. We've been wearing the cost, but we wouldn't be able to sustain that indefinitely.'
To mitigate these rising expenses, Picos is considering implementing a fuel levy on all jobs. Additionally, the high costs have disrupted plans to purchase a new truck, which would require AdBlue, a fuel additive primarily sourced from the Middle East. 'The truck can't operate without AdBlue,' he explained. 'If there's a shortage, it could be even worse than diesel because the trucks couldn't operate at all. We wanted to buy something new to reduce maintenance costs over 10 to 15 years, but with that AdBlue question mark, we have to rethink our strategy.'
