Melbourne Pizza Shop Rivalry Erupts in Violent Brawl, Two Hospitalized

A fierce turf war between competing pizza shops has violently erupted across Melbourne's inner north, resulting in two men being hospitalized after a brutal assault that was captured on CCTV footage. The shocking incident unfolded in a Brunswick pizzeria, where three men stormed the establishment and launched an all-out attack on the owner, his friend, and an innocent customer who was caught in the crossfire.

Chaos Captured on Camera

The disturbing footage reveals three minutes of sheer madness inside the restaurant, with fists flying, chairs being thrown, and even a fire extinguisher used as a weapon. In a desperate attempt to defend himself, the owner's friend grabbed a crowbar, but in the ensuing chaos, he lost it to his attacker. He was left defenseless on his hands and knees, barely conscious, as his wife pleaded with the trio to stop the violence.

Andrea Carulli, the pizzeria owner, sustained a bruised eye and back pain from the attack. His friend, however, remains in intensive care with severe injuries, highlighting the severity of the assault. Carulli described the scene as "horrible" and a "nightmare," stating, "I've never seen anything like that. And his mouth, blood everywhere."

Background of the Feud

This violent episode was actually the second attack of the night. Minutes earlier, the ringleader had attempted to assault Carulli on the footpath, only to be met with a mouthful of fire retardant. According to Carulli, the roots of this feud trace back to last month when he opened his new Brunswick location. He believes the attack was motivated by competition, saying, "They're gonna destroy my business and me because this is their area. This is our first week, actually, so we open Tuesday. All this because we are competition."

Carulli had previously owned a pizza shop in Pascoe Vale for five years before moving to Brunswick, drawn by the community atmosphere. Despite the injuries and the ongoing clean-up efforts, the determined restaurateur has already returned to the kitchen, planning for the night ahead, showcasing his resilience in the face of adversity.
