Firefighters were called to a blaze above a convenience store in Lambton early on Tuesday morning, with emergency services quickly bringing the fire under control.
Fire above Ezymart on Elder Street
Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) received reports of a fire on the second level above the Ezymart on Elder Street just before 4am on Tuesday, April 28. A spokesperson from FRNSW confirmed that five fire trucks were dispatched to the scene to extinguish the flames.
By 4:30am, firefighters had the fire under control, and crews had departed the location by 5:52am. Emergency services determined that no one was inside the building at the time of the incident. The cause of the fire remains unknown, and authorities are continuing their inquiries.
Police investigation underway
NSW Police also attended the scene at the Elder Street business early this morning. Police have established a crime scene and have commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the fire. No injuries have been reported, according to police.
Police stated that they would continue inquiries into the incident. The community is urged to come forward with any information that may assist the investigation.
