A man has died after being crushed in a workplace incident in Queensland’s south-east, marking the latest in a series of serious accidents in the region.
Details of the incident
The 36-year-old man, from Harristown, was at a workplace on Heinemann Road in Wellcamp, near Toowoomba, when he was crushed while staff were moving large crates filled with stock. The incident occurred at approximately 5:36pm on Tuesday.
Paramedics assessed the man at the scene for critical injuries, but he was declared dead a short time later.
Police have confirmed that a report will be prepared for the coroner. Workplace Health and Safety Queensland has been contacted for comment.
Recent workplace tragedies
Only days earlier, a man died while working at a quarry on West Mount Cotton Road in Sheldon when he was reported to have been crushed by a forklift. This was the second serious workplace accident on the bayside in just four days, following the death of a man in his 40s in Tingalpa. The man was working at Allstar Infrastructure when he was reportedly crushed between two trucks.
Earlier, on Easter Monday, another man was killed in a workplace incident after falling approximately four metres through scaffolding at a Clayfield development in Brisbane. Miikael Varuhin, 32, reportedly raised concerns about the scaffolding on site on the day he fell and had sent a photo from his phone. His death is now under investigation by Workplace Health and Safety Queensland.
