Perth residents are being urged to make the most of the sunny week ahead before more thunderstorms are set to hit at the end of the week, according to the Bureau of Meteorology.
Warm and Sunny Days Expected
Weather experts anticipate warm conditions for most of the week, with temperatures reaching a top of 22°C. Daytime temperatures will remain in the low 20s from Tuesday to Thursday, above the average for this time of year. Skies are expected to stay clear and sunny through the week.
Rain and Thunderstorms from Friday
A deluge of heavy showers is forecast from Friday, with up to 35mm of rain expected. Showers will begin early morning and continue into the evening. The wet front will persist into the weekend, with between 10mm and 25mm forecast on Saturday and Sunday. There is a strong chance of thunderstorms throughout the weekend, and the daily maximum temperature is expected to be no higher than 18°C.
Recent Cold Snap Contrast
The warmer weather follows a week of unusually cold conditions, with temperatures well below those recorded during the past two winters. Last Thursday, the metro area recorded the coldest morning of the year, with Perth falling to 3°C and Jandakot recording 0.5°C. The last time it was colder in the Perth metro area was June 27, 2023, when 0.7°C was recorded.
