Mohammed Fahir Amaaz, a 22-year-old from Rochdale, has been sentenced to 28 months in prison for assaulting two police officers and a customer at Manchester Airport. The incident occurred on March 15, 2025, when Amaaz became aggressive after being asked to leave a duty-free shop.

Details of the Assault

According to Greater Manchester Police, Amaaz was asked to leave the shop due to disruptive behavior. He then punched a male customer in the face, causing him to fall and sustain a fractured eye socket. When police officers arrived, Amaaz assaulted them, leaving one with a broken nose and the other with a dislocated shoulder.

Court Proceedings and Sentencing

At Manchester Crown Court, Amaaz pleaded guilty to three counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm. He was sentenced to 28 months in prison and was also issued a restraining order preventing him from contacting the victims.

Detective Constable Sarah Johnson said: "This was a violent and unprovoked attack on innocent people who were simply going about their business. The sentence reflects the severity of the assaults and sends a clear message that such behavior will not be tolerated."

Impact on Victims

The customer who was assaulted required surgery for his eye injury and has been left with permanent vision damage. One of the police officers has been unable to return to work due to ongoing psychological trauma.
