Israel Vows to Continue Iran War Amid Global Oil Crisis and Soaring Prices
Israel has firmly stated it will not withdraw from the ongoing war with Iran, as the Middle East conflict intensifies, causing significant disruptions to global oil supply and leading to skyrocketing fuel prices worldwide.
Herzog's Unwavering Stance on the Conflict
In an exclusive interview with 7NEWS, Israeli President Isaac Herzog emphasized his nation's resolve, declaring, "We are standing firm. We are standing firm," just hours after former US President Donald Trump suggested the war might soon end. When questioned about the duration of the conflict, Herzog was blunt, stating, "You have to understand there's no walking away."
Herzog acknowledged the economic turbulence and fuel pain experienced by Australians and others globally due to the war, assuring that it will pass, though he provided no specific timeline for victory. He highlighted the importance of limiting Iran's military capabilities, calling it a vital achievement, and expressed hope for freedom for the Iranian people, whom he believes deserve it.
Global Fuel Supply Disruptions and Economic Fallout
The conflict has severely impacted global oil markets, with fuel supply disruptions beginning to weigh heavily on nations around the world. In Vietnam, the trade ministry has urged local businesses to encourage employees to work from home to save on fuel, as the country faces significant price hikes:
- Gasoline prices have risen by 32 percent.
- Diesel prices have increased by 56 percent.
- Kerosene prices have surged by 80 percent.
Long lines of vehicles have been observed at gas stations in Hanoi, reflecting the widespread strain.
Warnings from Top Oil Exporters and Industry Leaders
Saudi Arabia's Aramco, the world's leading oil exporter, has issued a stark warning about the consequences of continued disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz. CEO Amin Nasser stated that global oil inventories are at a five-year low, and the crisis could lead to catastrophic effects on markets if shipping does not resume promptly. He emphasized that the disruption is not only affecting shipping and insurance sectors but also having drastic domino effects on industries such as aviation, agriculture, and automotive.
Nasser also reported that a small fire at Aramco's Ras Tanura refinery, caused by an attack last week, was quickly controlled, with the facility in the process of being restarted.
Iran's Threats and Regional Tensions
In response to the conflict, a spokesman for Iran's paramilitary Revolutionary Guard, Ali Mohamad Naeini, has threatened to halt oil exports from the Persian Gulf, declaring that Iran "will not allow the export of even a single litre of oil from the region to the hostile side and its partners until further notice." He asserted that attempts to control oil and gas prices would be temporary and ineffective, noting that trade in wartime conditions is subject to security considerations.
As the Middle East conflict wages on, the global community faces mounting economic challenges, with soaring fuel prices and supply chain disruptions highlighting the far-reaching impacts of the war between Israel and Iran.
