Write Round the World Dinner in Perth Sells 130 Tickets for March Event
Perth's Write Round the World Dinner Sells 130 Tickets

Excitement is building for an upcoming cultural event in Perth, as the Write Round the World Dinner has already sold a significant number of tickets ahead of its scheduled date in March 2026. Organiser Stephen Scourfield has revealed that 130 of the 150 available tickets have been purchased, indicating strong community interest in this unique evening of storytelling, music, and cuisine.

Event Details and Preparation

Stephen Scourfield spent a recent Sunday crafting the narratives that will form the backbone of the evening's entertainment. Each story corresponds to a different global destination that participants will explore through words, music, and food during the event. Scourfield described these stories as "a contrasty lot," suggesting diverse themes and atmospheres that will transport attendees to various corners of the world.

After timing the stories using a teleprompter application, Scourfield recorded them on Monday and forwarded the recordings to musician Steve Richter. Richter will compose and perform live music during the dinner, creating an immersive auditory experience that complements the culinary and narrative elements of the evening.

Practical Information for Attendees

The Write Round the World Dinner will take place at The University Club of Western Australia, located on Hackett Drive in Matilda Bay. The event is scheduled for Thursday, March 12, 2026, with arrivals beginning at 6:45 PM for a program running from 7:00 PM to 10:00 PM.

Tickets are priced at $135 per person, which includes pre-dinner drinks, four courses of food, wine and beer served at the table, and the evening's entertainment. The event is presented with support from Explorations by Norwegian, adding an additional layer of travel-inspired authenticity to the proceedings.

Organiser's Perspective

Scourfield admitted that with all his events, his "biggest concern is that no-one will turn up." However, with ticket sales progressing steadily through the Tickets WA platform, that concern appears to be alleviated for this particular gathering. Friend and colleague Christine Sutherland provided the encouraging update about the 130 tickets already sold.

The event promises to offer participants a multi-sensory journey around the globe without leaving Perth, combining literary elements with musical performances and carefully curated dining experiences. This approach reflects growing interest in experiential events that engage multiple aspects of culture and entertainment simultaneously.
