Perth Tattoo Artists Unite to Raise Significant Funds for Animal Rescues

The Tattoos for Tails Charity Art Exhibition, held at Terrace Greenhouse in South Fremantle over the weekend of April 3rd, 2026, successfully brought together 40 Perth-based tattoo artists in a powerful display of community support for animals in need across Western Australia. This vibrant event combined artistic talent with philanthropic efforts, resulting in a substantial financial boost for numerous animal welfare organisations.

Impressive Fundraising Achievements and Community Engagement

The exhibition generated over $31,000 in funds, with 275 pieces sold and 153 individual orders placed during the event. Notably, 27 of the 40 original artworks on display were purchased, with 100 percent of the proceeds from these original pieces being donated directly to the artists' chosen animal charities. The opening night on April 3rd was a particularly remarkable success, attracting crowds of more than 400 people within the first hour alone.

In addition to the participating artists, the space was filled with rescue volunteers, clients, and members of the public who enthusiastically embraced the cause. The event supported more than 15 animal rescues across WA, including prominent organisations such as Dogs’ Refuge Home, Kaarakin Black Cockatoo Conservation Centre, Mandurah Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre, K9 Rescue Group, RSPCA, and Swan Animal Haven.

Founding and Growth of a Community-Led Initiative

Tattoos for Tails was founded by Sam Dunbar, alongside directors Jake Axl and Hayden De Mari, and has continued to grow as a community-led initiative that uses art as a vessel to give back to animals in need. The exhibition exemplifies how creative endeavours can drive meaningful social impact, fostering a sense of unity and purpose among participants and attendees alike.

The success of this event highlights the strong community spirit in Perth and the broader Western Australian region, demonstrating how local artists can mobilise resources and awareness for critical animal welfare causes. With such positive outcomes, Tattoos for Tails is poised to expand its reach and influence in future iterations, potentially inspiring similar initiatives in other communities.
