Fremantle Street Arts Festival 2026 Welcomes So Circus with Family-Focused Performance
Fremantle Street Arts Fest 2026: So Circus Brings Family Fun

Fremantle International Street Arts Festival 2026 Returns with High-Energy Local Act So Circus

The Fremantle International Street Arts Festival 2026 is set to make a spectacular comeback, featuring the dynamic local performance duo So Circus. This high-energy act, comprised of circus artists Eve Morgana Everard and Luke Forrester, brings a unique family-oriented twist to the annual free event, which will transform the streets and venues of Fremantle over the Easter long weekend from April 3 to 6.

A Circus Life Blended with Parenthood

For many parents, handing over an infant to a circus ringmaster for babysitting might seem unimaginable, but for Everard and Forrester, it is simply part of their daily routine. Since the birth of their two-year-old son, Finn Archer Forrester, juggling professional commitments with family life has become more challenging, yet they embrace it wholeheartedly. "We would not have it any other way," Everard emphasizes, reflecting on their experiences touring with traditional circuses where Finn would be cared for backstage while they performed.

The couple met 17 years ago while studying circus arts at CircoArts in Christchurch and have since toured internationally, gracing stages from the Sydney Opera House to the streets of Hong Kong. Their recent formation of So Circus marks a shift towards performing more locally after settling in Pinjarra, allowing them to integrate their son into their act in creative ways.

So Circus: A New Creative Partnership

So Circus emerged from Everard and Forrester's desire to focus on local performances while maintaining their artistic integrity. Forrester showcases skills in unicycle riding, juggling, and mouth stick balancing, while Everard specializes in hula hoops—holding two Guinness World Records—along with tightwire and stilt walking. Their son Finn is already showing an interest in circus arts, often watching from the wings and even participating in costume during shows.

"He really gravitates towards a lot of circus equipment because he sees us with it," Everard notes. "We're starting to work out ways of giving him his first little tricks in the show. As a little family, it would be extra fun if we could all do the shows together." The parents agree that Finn's future in circus performance will be his own choice, but his early enthusiasm suggests a potential legacy.

Festival Debut with A Circus Picnic

This year's Fremantle International Street Arts Festival will mark So Circus's debut at the event, where they will perform their show A Circus Picnic. The performance features picnic-themed items being juggled, a tall unicycle, fire elements, and the world's largest hula hoop, all designed to promote family fun. "It's about drawing parallels between our show and our real life," Everard explains, highlighting how their circus world intertwines with everyday family experiences.

Forrester expresses excitement about the festival, recalling his childhood attendance at a similar event in Nelson, New Zealand. "The crowds at the Fremantle International Street Arts Festival are some of the best you can ask for," he says. The duo looks forward to the vibrant atmosphere, connecting with other performers, and sharing the experience with Finn, who will also enjoy other family-friendly shows over the weekend.
