Tragic Diving Incident Claims Life at Popular NSW Spot
A diving trip turned to tragedy in the Hunter Region on Saturday when a woman lost her life after being pulled unconscious from the water at Fly Point in Nelson Bay.
Emergency Response at Fly Point
Emergency services rushed to the popular diving location around 11am on Saturday following distressing reports of a diver in serious trouble. Multiple police units including the Marine Area Command, Port Stephens-Hunter Police District and even Raptor Squad officers attended the scene.
Witnesses watched as the woman, believed to be in her 50s, was dragged from the water completely unresponsive. NSW Ambulance paramedics immediately began working to revive her at the scene, performing emergency procedures in a desperate attempt to save her life.
Critical Condition and Tragic Outcome
Despite the efforts of first responders, the woman remained in a critical condition and was transported to Tomaree Community Hospital for urgent medical attention. Tragically, she passed away en route to the hospital, adding another fatality to NSW's water safety statistics.
