Intensive Search Underway for Missing Teen Swimmer on Sunshine Coast

A large-scale search operation is currently in progress along the popular beaches of the Sunshine Coast, following the disappearance of a teenage swimmer. Police and emergency services were alerted to the incident at Buddina Beach on Pacific Boulevard at approximately 4:15 PM on Wednesday, after reports indicated that an 18-year-old male had failed to return to shore.

Initial search efforts continued for over five hours before being temporarily suspended around 9 PM on Wednesday. The operation resumed on Thursday morning, with authorities mobilizing a comprehensive array of resources to cover the area from Mooloolaba Spit to south of Kawana. The search involves multiple assets, including PolAir, a helicopter, jet skis, inflatable dinghies, a police boat, Coastguard vessels, and the LifeFlight rescue helicopter.
