Djokovic Laughs Off 'Roger' Heckler in Dominant Australian Open Warm-Up
Djokovic responds to heckler in Australian Open win

Novak Djokovic has brushed off a cheeky fan's interruption with trademark sarcasm, cruising to a straight-sets victory in his only competitive hit-out before the Australian Open.

Serbian Star Shakes Off Rust in Melbourne

The world number four, gunning for a record-extending 11th Australian Open crown and a 25th Grand Slam title overall, looked in fine form during the 80-minute exhibition match. He defeated American Frances Tiafoe 6-3, 6-4, mixing 22 winners with 17 unforced errors in a performance that showcased his famous court coverage.

This was Djokovic's first match since winning the Athens ATP event in early November, having withdrawn from the Adelaide International. "I'm trying to get some match play," Djokovic said afterwards. "It's good to get the rust off. I haven't played any match since the beginning of November."

Heckler's 'Roger' Call Met With Sarcastic Laughter

The match's most memorable moment came as Djokovic prepared to serve for the victory. A fan loudly yelled, "Let's go Roger!" – a clear reference to his great rival, Roger Federer.

Djokovic immediately halted his service motion. He turned and responded with a loud, sarcastic laugh towards the crowd, which in turn sparked a wave of laughter from the Melbourne Park spectators. It sounded like Tiafoe, or possibly another fan, then shouted "I agree" from across the net.

The moment proved no distraction for the 38-year-old champion, who promptly sealed the match on the next point following a Tiafoe error.

Cherishing Every Moment in Career Twilight

Speaking after the confidence-boosting win, Djokovic reflected on his mindset as he enters the latter stages of his unparalleled career. "I'm trying to remind myself to not take any moment on the court for granted," he shared.

"We are all battling ourselves first and then our opponent obviously on the court, but I'm just trying to remind myself of the joy I still have and a blessing to be able to play at this level at this age."

Djokovic will now turn his attention to the main draw at Melbourne Park. His campaign for an 11th title begins against Spaniard Pedro Martinez. If the seeds hold, a blockbuster semi-final clash against two-time defending champion Jannik Sinner could await.
