Snowden Predicts Major Bounce Back for Infusion at Warwick Farm
Trainer Tips Improved Infusion at Warwick Farm

Trainer Peter Snowden is forecasting a significantly better performance from his mare Infusion when she steps out at Warwick Farm this Wednesday, January 7, 2026. The four-year-old is set to line up in the Ole Kirk Yearlings Handicap (1200m) looking to atone for a disappointing return to racing at Randwick just over a week ago.

A Case of Circumstances, Not Form

Infusion started as a $4 favourite at Randwick on December 26, 2025, but finished near the tail of the field in a run Snowden has dismissed as simply unlucky. The trainer explained that a wide draw and tactical decisions in a strung-out race conspired against the lightly-raced mare.

"She drew wide and I gave Tom [Sherry] an open hand about whether to go forward or back," Snowden said. "There was a line of eight there for about a furlong so he went back and they strung out. She got further back than we wanted to be. It was impossible for her."

Snowden believes the experience will prove beneficial and, combined with a more favourable barrier draw and a slight drop in class, sets Infusion up for a sharp second-up improvement.

Key to Success Lies in Prominent Position

The trainer has instructed jockey Jason Collett to make use of the better gate, aiming to have Infusion racing much closer to the speed. This tactic aligns with her previous racing pattern from her first preparation.

"In her runs prior to going out she was on speed. She'll probably be in the first four or five," Snowden stated confidently. "Her work since has been good and she's not far off where she was before she went out so hopefully we'll see that sort of run."

Stablemate Also Tipped to Feature

Snowden also expects his other runner, Mirra Impact, to be highly competitive in the Asahi Super Dry Handicap (1600m). The gelding showed he was ready for more ground with a close third over 1550m at Canterbury last month.

"He can race a bit handier now with a steadier pace. His run the other day was quite good," Snowden noted. "I think Warwick Farm will be better for him and he's definitely near a win."
