Classy sprinter Elite Deluxe returned to peak condition to secure a thrilling victory in the Great Western final at Tabtouch Park Mandurah on Friday, December 8, 2025.
A Sharp Turnaround From Heat to Final
The talented blue fawn chaser, trained by Jamie Marsh, entered the 400-metre decider after a second-place finish in his heat the previous week. That run followed a month-long spell, and the dog appeared to need the outing, being run down by Biscotti Blast. However, for the trophy race, Elite Deluxe was a different proposition entirely.
A Duel to the Finish Line
Launching cleanly from box three, Elite Deluxe quickly snatched the early lead from Italian Stallion. The lead was immediately challenged by Aussie Gem, setting up a fierce head-to-head battle that lasted the entire journey.
Despite relentless pressure from his rival throughout the run, Elite Deluxe showed superior strength on this occasion. Aussie Gem pushed him all the way but could not find a way past.
Result and Future Prospects
Elite Deluxe held on gallantly to win by a quarter of a length, stopping the clock in a time of 22.49 seconds. This impressive performance improved his outstanding career record to nine wins from just 14 starts.
The victory firmly establishes Elite Deluxe as a major contender for upcoming feature races. He is now expected to be one of the leading fancies for the Group 2 Birthday Cup, scheduled for early next month.
