The Western Force has finalized its primary squad for the upcoming Super Rugby Women’s season by re-signing former Wallaroos superstar and long-time captain Trilleen Pomare.
Pomare Returns to Boost Force
The 33-year-old is the club’s most capped player with 32 appearances, including featuring in the inaugural match back in 2018. Pomare has also led the side as captain for the past five seasons, putting to bed any speculation that her rugby career is over after she retired from international rugby last year.
Coach Praises Signing
Force Super W coach Dylan Parsons, who previously described Pomare as the “heart and soul” of the team, said her re-signing would lift the squad ahead of the campaign starting in June.
“Trills signing is one we want every year, as long as she’s willing to keep pulling on the boots,” he said. “She’s so important to our team with what she brings both on and off the field. She’s given a lot to this team, the club and also Australian rugby.”
Parsons added that having Pomare focus solely on the Western Force after her national team commitments is exciting. “To have such a strong 2026 Super W season, and to now be able to focus on the Western Force, is exciting after all her achievements with the national team. For Trill, to have one rugby focus while also managing her professional work is exciting for the Western Force to see how she’s able to perform.”
He noted that Pomare has returned from her break full of energy. “She has come back from the break energised, and we are looking forward to seeing how that translates to backing up her outstanding form from last season.”
Career Highlights
Pomare played 43 games for Australia after moving from Auckland to Perth as a teenager. She also represented the green and gold in three Rugby World Cups. To date, she has scored six tries for the Force across her career.
