A woman from the Lake Macquarie region is set to face court after being charged over the alleged public display of a prohibited Nazi symbol on a boat parked at Swansea.
Police Investigation Leads to Charges
The incident came to light after Lake Macquarie police attended a home on Albert Street on December 6 concerning the allegedly offensive boat decor. The investigation escalated when detectives executed a raid on the property ten days later, on December 16, arresting a 32-year-old man.
That man, identified as Jake Dearie, was refused bail at the time and remains before the courts, facing three separate charges. Prosecutors previously alleged the boat featured a "serious and blatant" display of graphic Nazi and anti-Semitic symbolism, including reversed swastikas, offensive slogans, and depictions of fish.
Second Person Appears at Police Station
Following further police inquiries, a 34-year-old woman attended Belmont Police Station at about 1pm on Friday, January 9, 2026. She was subsequently issued a court attendance notice.
The woman is charged with two offences: causing a prohibited Nazi symbol to be displayed in a public place, and behaving in an offensive manner in or near a public place or school. She is scheduled to appear at Belmont Local Court in February.
Items Seized for Examination
As part of their investigation, police seized significant evidence from the Albert Street address. Two boats and other items were taken for further forensic examination. The imagery on the boat in question was described as too graphic and offensive to publish.
