A violent home invasion in Wollongong has left a 41-year-old man with serious injuries after he was attacked with a wooden pole. The incident occurred on Saturday evening, prompting a swift response from local authorities who are now actively searching for the perpetrator.
Details of the Assault and Break-In
At approximately 5:30 PM on Saturday, police were called to a unit on Macquarie Street following reports of a break and enter. Upon arrival, officers learned that a man had forcibly entered the flat while brandishing a wooden pole. The intruder demanded money and then proceeded to strike the 41-year-old resident, resulting in a broken arm.
Two other individuals present in the unit—a 42-year-old woman and a 45-year-old man—were also threatened with the pole during the terrifying ordeal. The assailant then attempted to steal an electric scooter from the premises but was unsuccessful and fled the scene empty-handed.
Police Search for Suspect Captured on CCTV
Law enforcement officials have released CCTV footage showing a man running from the unit complex shortly after the attack. The suspect is described as being of Mediterranean or Middle Eastern appearance, aged between 25 and 30 years old. He stands approximately 175 to 180 centimeters tall with a thin build, a beard, and a rats tail hairstyle.
At the time of the incident, he was wearing a black T-shirt, black long pants, and black shoes, and was carrying a black and white jacket. Police are urging anyone with information about the suspect or the home invasion to come forward immediately.
