Three Teenagers Face Multiple Charges Following Alleged Violent Crime Spree
Three teenagers have been formally charged by police in connection with a violent alleged crime spree that has left residents across Brisbane's southside and the Gold Coast shaken. Authorities are continuing their hunt for at least two other youths believed to be involved in the incidents, with further arrests expected as investigations progress.
Charges Laid After Series of Terrifying Break-Ins
The charges stem from a series of alleged break-ins that occurred between March 30 and March 31, targeting residential properties in Rochedale, Calamvale, and Robina. Police allege the group was involved in multiple violent home invasions and car thefts during this period.
An 18-year-old man from Coomera has been charged with six serious offences, including:
- Attempting to break into a home
- Carrying out an armed break-in with others
- Attempting a violent armed robbery
- Assaulting someone with a weapon
- Stealing a car
- Causing property damage
The man is scheduled to appear in Southport Magistrates Court to face these charges.
Additional Charges for Younger Suspects
A 17-year-old boy from Browns Plains is facing an extensive list of 14 charges, including multiple robbery offences, car theft, breaking into homes and attempted break-ins, armed assault, trespassing, and property damage. His case was briefly mentioned in Richlands Children's Court, where he did not appear, and has been adjourned until early May with no application for bail made.
Similarly, a 16-year-old boy from Coombabah has been charged with 14 offences, including stealing cars, violent armed robberies, attempted break-ins, and assault. Police will also allege he is linked to nine additional offences in Brisbane's south from December, including armed group robberies and further break-ins. He is due to appear in Southport Children's Court.
Violent Incidents Leave Residents Traumatized
The charges follow several alleged terrifying incidents that have deeply affected local communities. In one particularly disturbing case at Rochedale, a couple in their 60s were woken by intruders inside their home. Police allege the group threatened the woman with a knife and demanded cash, while security footage captured voices yelling threatening statements.
"I just felt that I was going to lose my life this morning," homeowner Elena Parolin said following the traumatic experience.
In a separate incident at Calamvale, a woman was injured while attempting to prevent her car from being stolen. On the Gold Coast, a Robina homeowner was allegedly assaulted when confronting the group as they attempted to flee the property.
Police Investigation Continues
Police allege the group used vehicles stolen during earlier break-ins, including a white Jeep Grand Cherokee taken from Kingscliff. While five teenagers were initially taken into custody on Wednesday across Brisbane's southside and the Gold Coast, an 18-year-old man and a 14-year-old boy have since been released without charge.
Authorities are urging anyone with information, dashcam footage, or CCTV vision related to these incidents to come forward and contact police immediately. The investigation remains active as police work to identify and locate the remaining suspects believed to be involved in the alleged crime spree.
