A man has been arrested after he allegedly manufactured and supplied several 3D-printed firearms. Edel Sumner, 39, faced the ACT Magistrates Court on Thursday, May 14, charged with one count each of unauthorised manufacture of a firearm, possessing prohibited firearms and possessing ammunition.
He did not apply for bail and is yet to enter pleas to the charges. Police allegedly made the discovery during two simultaneous searches of Belconnen homes about 3.20pm on Wednesday.
During the search, officers allegedly found multiple 3D-printed firearms, numerous 3D-printed firearm parts, 3D-printed knuckle dusters, two foldable pistols, and a selection of ammunition. Police also allegedly located illicit drugs, a taser, an extendable baton, gel blasters and two bicycles believed to be stolen.
Sumner, who lives at one of the homes, was arrested shortly after the discovery. An ACT Policing spokesperson said further charges were expected to be laid as the investigation continued.
