Assault Charges
A 34-year-old Manunda man faced two counts of assault occasioning bodily harm. The court heard that the incident occurred at a local licensed venue on March 15, 2025. The defendant pleaded not guilty, and the matter was adjourned to June 30 for a contested hearing.
Drug Offences
A 28-year-old Edmonton woman was sentenced to 18 months' imprisonment, suspended for two years, after pleading guilty to possessing a dangerous drug (methylamphetamine) with intent to supply. Police located 50 grams of the drug during a vehicle search on April 2. The court noted her cooperation and lack of prior criminal history.
Property Crimes
Two teenagers, aged 17 and 18, from Cairns North, were dealt with under the Youth Justice Act for break-in and stealing. They admitted to entering a commercial premises on Shields Street on April 20 and stealing electronics valued at $12,000. Both were placed on 12-month probation orders with restorative justice conditions.
Adjournments and Mentions
