Woman dies in head-on crash with allegedly stolen ute north of Brisbane

A woman has died following a head-on collision involving an allegedly stolen vehicle in Woodford, north of Brisbane. Police have arrested a man at a nearby school in connection with the incident.

Emergency services were called to Archer Street near Victoria Lane in Woodford, approximately 90 minutes north of Brisbane, after reports that a white Isuzu D-Max utility and an orange Toyota Corolla had collided head-on around 6:10 am on Tuesday.

The driver of the Toyota, a 60-year-old woman from Caboolture South, sustained critical injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Queensland police allege that the Isuzu D-Max had been stolen earlier that morning from an address on McLoughlin Road in Morayfield, around 3:45 am. The male driver of the ute allegedly fled the crash site on foot after the collision.

The white Isuzu D-Max utility sustained significant front-end damage in the crash. Despite the damage, the driver allegedly fled the scene on foot. The orange Toyota Corolla also suffered extensive damage.

A 31-year-old man was later located at a nearby educational facility and taken into custody. Police confirmed that the school went into lockdown during the incident. The man is currently assisting police with their inquiries.

The D'Aguilar Highway has been closed in both directions south of Margaret Street in Woodford. Motorists have been urged to avoid the area and expect delays. Debris is scattered across the highway following the collision.

The Caboolture Criminal Investigation Branch is investigating the crash and is appealing for anyone with information or relevant dashcam vision to come forward.
