Geelong Man Seeks Truck Driver Who Hit Car and Fled

A Mount Duneed resident is urging the driver of a truck that struck his parked car and fled the scene to come forward. The incident occurred on the morning of Tuesday, 15 October, on Surf Coast Highway, near the intersection with Breamlea Road.

The victim, who wishes to remain anonymous, told the Geelong Advertiser that he had parked his vehicle legally on the side of the road when he heard a loud crash. He rushed outside to find his car with significant damage to the driver's side, and a truck speeding away.

“I couldn’t believe it. The truck just kept going,” the man said. “It was a large truck, possibly a tipper or a truck towing a trailer. I saw it heading towards Torquay.”

Police Investigation Underway

Victoria Police have confirmed they are investigating the hit-and-run. Officers attended the scene and have appealed for any witnesses or dashcam footage. A police spokesperson said, “We are urging the driver to do the right thing and contact us. Leaving the scene of an accident is a serious offence.”

The man’s car, a silver Holden Commodore, sustained a crumpled rear door, a broken window, and deep scratches along the side. He estimates the damage to be in the thousands of dollars.

Community Support

Neighbours have expressed their support, with one saying, “It’s shocking that someone would just drive off. We hope they catch the person.” The victim has taken to social media to share his story, hoping the driver will come forward.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Geelong Police Station or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000. The truck is described as a white or light-coloured large truck, possibly with company branding, last seen heading south on the Surf Coast Highway.
