Easter long weekend police blitz announced

Authorities have announced that a police blitz will run from April 2 to 6, coinciding with the Easter long weekend. During this period, double demerit points will be enforced for offences such as speeding, mobile phone use, seatbelt violations, and helmet infractions.

This crackdown comes in response to road safety concerns, as three people died on New South Wales roads during the Easter long weekend in 2025, a decrease from seven deaths in the same period in 2024. Police are urging drivers to exercise caution and adhere to traffic laws to prevent further tragedies.

The incident serves as a stark reminder of the severe consequences of reckless driving, including significant financial penalties and licence suspensions.
