Fremantle Star Caleb Serong's Wedding: A Rain-Soaked Farm Fairytale
For Chloe and Fremantle Dockers star Caleb Serong, the family farm in Geelong is more than just a property; it is a sanctuary filled with lifelong memories. From kitchen-table conversations to laughter-filled afternoons on the back deck, this location has been the backdrop of their childhood adventures and teenage escapes during boarding school breaks. When it came time to choose a venue for their wedding, there was no question—the place where they fell in love was the only fitting choice.
A Love Born from Friendship
Chloe reflects on their relationship, noting that they quickly evolved from friends to best friends. "What initially drew us to each other is how comfortable we felt together and how much fun we would have spending time together," she says. "We were the first to see and understand each other for who we were and could always be our most authentic selves around each other." This deep connection guided every aspect of their wedding planning, ensuring the day was a true reflection of their bond.
Embracing the Unexpected Rain
Growing up, Chloe had always envisioned a fairytale wedding, complete with a strapless dress adorned with tulle and a long train. However, she had not planned for rain. Despite the weather, her favorite image from the day captures the couple smiling under an umbrella, with her dress dirtied from the mud. "It symbolised that regardless of any factors which we had no control of attempting to interfere with our love and joy of the day, nothing mattered more than having fun together and celebrating our love," Chloe explains. The rain even proved to be a silver lining, cutting their photo session short and allowing them a quiet moment to dry off and enjoy a cocktail together—a highlight they cherish.
Italian-Inspired Celebrations
Chloe leaned into her Italian heritage to create an experience-focused celebration rather than adhering to a strict theme. The wedding centered on bringing friends and family together over good food, wine, and laughter. "It’s what we love to do in our downtime as a couple," she says. This approach extended throughout the weekend, including a sit-down rehearsal dinner followed by a wine tasting, and a recovery day featuring Aperols and a tennis tournament. The menu featured dishes and wines the couple regularly enjoys, with a standout being the tiramisu cake served individually to each guest from a trolley.
Custom-Made Wedding Dresses
After unsuccessful dress fittings, Chloe turned to Sonia from Cappellazzo Couture, who sketched a silk dress with modern influences like draped corset elements and ruching on the waist seam. "I had the same feeling every time I tried it on of, 'wow it is perfect'," Chloe recalls. Her second dress, designed by Grace Presow from Atalie Studios, featured a corset and long skirt embellished with "dew drops," evoking the same awe upon first try-on.
No Regrets, Only Memories
Despite describing herself as a type A control freak, Chloe would not change a thing about the day—not even the rain. "The small moments of stress are forgotten when all is done, it’s the memories you create when you are having fun that will stick with you forever," she says. The wedding was a testament to their love, filled with joy, authenticity, and unforgettable moments on the Geelong farm that holds their dearest memories.
