Highly-anticipated works have officially commenced at Fremantle Public Golf Course, with ground broken earlier this week for the new $22 million LaunchPad Golf venue. This multi-story driving range, set to deliver a premium golfing experience, will sit alongside the existing public track.
LaunchPad Golf is the latest in a wave of hubs designed to attract both traditional and casual golfers. It will feature interactive driving range technology, complemented by food and drink hospitality to engage all audiences. In addition to the main venue, the project includes upgraded amenities, a new cafe, and a pro shop.
Local fans of the public course need not worry, as the city has confirmed the nine-hole track will remain open throughout construction. Fremantle Mayor Ben Lawver expressed his eagerness to try the new facility once completed.
“I’m also excited about ensuring that participation and usage of this new facility is safe and affordable, while also remaining inclusive to members of the public,” he said.
LaunchPad Golf Fremantle Managing Director Scott Gunson highlighted the aim to make the venue an annual attraction.
“This isn’t just about building a venue, it’s about creating a place people come back to regularly,” he said. “A place that adds energy to the precinct and gives locals something they can genuinely connect with.”
This site joins a growing list of off-course golf hubs in Perth, with millions of dollars being invested to transform public golf courses into tourist destinations. The northern suburbs received a boost this week with the City of Wanneroo announcing $26 million upgrades for Carramar and Marangaroo golf courses. Meanwhile, work is underway in Perth’s south on Collier Golf Course’s $19.8 million makeover, and Hamersley’s $20 million upgrade was recently completed, proving to be a major success.
