Body found in search for missing Perth FIFO worker

Western Australian police have confirmed the tragic discovery of a body during the search for a missing fly-in fly-out worker from Perth.

Search Ends in Tragedy

The body, believed to be that of 25-year-old William Carter, was found on Tuesday morning. Mr Carter was reported missing after he failed to board a flight on Saturday, December 6, 2025.

A police spokesman stated that while formal identification is still pending, they believe the body is that of the missing man. His death is not being treated as suspicious, and a report will be prepared for the Coroner.

Last Known Movements

The sequence of events leading to Mr Carter's disappearance began when his mother, Jenny O'Bryne, dropped him outside Perth Airport's Terminal 3 around 12.40pm on December 6. He was expected to catch a flight for his FIFO roster but never checked in.

Instead, approximately thirty minutes later, Mr Carter ordered a taxi to take him from the airport to Trigg Beach. He was last seen in the vicinity of the local surf club at about 2.40pm that same afternoon.

Community and Police Response

The disappearance prompted an extensive search operation focused on the coastal area near Trigg. Police released images and appealed for public assistance to locate the young worker in the days following his disappearance.

The news has sent shockwaves through the local and FIFO communities. The case highlights the profound personal challenges that can be faced by those working in the demanding fly-in fly-out industry.
