Perth Family Rave Day brings Jurassic World-themed dance party to kids
Family Rave Day: Jurassic World dance party for kids in Perth

A central Perth venue will be transformed into a midday Jurassic World rave this June, as a stampede of children takes over the dance floor. Family Rave Day’s Escape Jurassic World event is scheduled for Saturday, June 13, from 11am to 2pm at The Court Hotel, with organisers aiming to create an experience that appeals to both parents and children.

Event highlights

The program includes a silent disco, confetti and balloon drops, and dress-up is strongly encouraged. DJ Rock, an 11-year-old regular performer who has toured across Australia and New Zealand, will be on the decks.

“I can’t wait to see all the incredible costumes everyone turns up in, they always blow me away. I’m also pumped to play some of my favourite tracks and feel that energy bounce back off the dance floor,” DJ Rock said.

Origins of the event

Family Rave Day was created in Perth in 2020 by Law Corden, an acclaimed international DJ and father of one, who was inspired by watching his daughter’s love of dancing. “It’s about reliving those legendary clubbing days, but this time, you’ve got your best little mates by your side and they can go wild – no one is asking them to be quiet or trying to keep them in their seats,” Mr Corden said.

What started as a local idea during the COVID-19 pandemic has grown into a touring event. Over the past six years, more than 250 Family Rave Days have been held across every major city in Australia and New Zealand.

Bridging nightclub and playgroup

Mr Corden emphasised that the event is designed to bridge the gap between nightclub and playgroup, encouraging kids, parents, caregivers and grandparents to boogie together. “We wanted to create a space where you don’t have to leave your identity at the door just because you have your kids with you,” he said.

Second release tickets are now on sale online, starting from $28 for a child ticket and $37 for an adult ticket.
