A woman has been hospitalised with a gunshot wound following an altercation in Mount Louisa, with police treating the incident as a domestic violence-related shooting.

Emergency services were called to a residence on Bayswater Road around 6:30pm on Thursday evening following reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers found a woman in her 30s suffering from a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to her lower body. She was transported to Townsville University Hospital in a stable condition.
Police Investigation
Police have established a crime scene at the property and are conducting forensic examinations. Investigators believe the shooting occurred after a verbal argument escalated. A man known to the woman is being sought for questioning. Detectives from the Townsville Criminal Investigation Branch are leading the probe.
Detective Senior Sergeant Mark Rollo said the incident was isolated and there was no ongoing threat to the public. “We are treating this as a domestic violence-related shooting,” he said. “The victim and the suspect are known to each other, and we are working to locate the offender.”
