A woman is in a critical condition after being struck by a car on LaTrobe Terrace in Geelong on Tuesday evening. Emergency services were called to the scene near the intersection with Kilgour Street around 6:30 pm following reports of a serious collision.
Incident Details
The pedestrian, a woman in her 40s from Geelong, suffered life-threatening injuries and was transported to University Hospital Geelong in a critical state. The driver of the vehicle, a 30-year-old man from Norlane, remained at the scene and is assisting police with their inquiries. He was not injured in the crash.
Police Investigation
Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives are examining the circumstances surrounding the incident. Initial inquiries suggest that the woman was crossing LaTrobe Terrace when she was hit by the car traveling eastbound. Police are appealing for any witnesses or motorists with dashcam footage to come forward.
Road Closures and Traffic Delays
The section of LaTrobe Terrace between Kilgour Street and Pakington Street was closed for several hours while forensic officers examined the scene. Traffic diversions were in place, causing significant delays for commuters during the evening peak. The road has since been reopened.
