Two Teenage Girls Arrested After Alleged Armed Robbery Attempts at Logan Gym

Two teenage girls have been taken into custody by police following a string of alleged attempted armed robberies that occurred inside a busy fitness centre in Springwood, Logan, late on a Friday night. One of the teenagers has now been formally charged in connection with the disturbing incident.

Details of the Alleged Gym Robberies

According to Queensland Police, the pair entered a gym located on Cinderella Drive in Springwood, approximately a 30-minute drive south of Brisbane, between 11:50 PM and midnight on April 19. Once inside, they allegedly approached multiple patrons, demanding their car keys while making threats.

The first victim was a 30-year-old man who was exercising at the time. He was reportedly confronted by the two girls, aged 15 and 16, who yelled at him to hand over his keys and attempted to search his clothing. Fortunately, he managed to leave the gym unharmed.

Multiple Victims Targeted in the Incident

A second man, aged 22, came to assist after hearing the disturbance. He was also allegedly threatened, with the pair claiming they were armed with both a knife and a firearm while demanding his car keys. He too was able to escape without injury.

Two more individuals, a 19-year-old woman and a 22-year-old man, were allegedly threatened when they approached the scene before leaving the gym. A fifth victim, a 23-year-old man, was also reportedly targeted and threatened for his car keys during the chaotic episode.

Police Response and Arrests

Police located the two teenage girls nearby and took them into custody. Officers allege that car keys belonging to one of the victims were later found a short distance away after being dropped as the pair attempted to flee the scene.

The 15-year-old girl, from Ormeau, has been charged with four counts of attempted armed robbery in company and one count of armed robbery in company. The 16-year-old girl, from Tweed Heads on the NSW-Queensland border near the Gold Coast, was also arrested in relation to the incident, with investigations ongoing.

Broader Context of Gym-Related Crimes

This incident comes just a day after police charged a Brisbane teenager over a series of alleged gym-linked thefts, accused of stealing car keys from insecure lockers across multiple suburbs. In that separate investigation, three other teens—a 15-year-old boy, a 17-year-old girl, and another 15-year-old girl—were also arrested after police intercepted a stolen car.

The arrests highlight ongoing concerns about safety and security in fitness centres, particularly during late-night hours. Authorities continue to investigate both cases, urging the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities.
