Pre-Schooler Airlifted to Hospital After Car Collision in Port Kembla
A pre-school aged boy was airlifted to hospital after being hit by a car in Port Kembla on Wednesday morning, with emergency services responding swiftly to the incident.
The accident occurred on Military Road, near the intersection of Olympic Boulevard, just before 9am. The boy, who was riding his bicycle at the time, was struck by the vehicle and became trapped underneath it.
Ambulance paramedics worked quickly to free the child from under the car. He sustained facial and leg lacerations in the collision, while the driver of the car was treated for shock at the scene.
Helicopter Rescue Deployed for Urgent Medical Transport
Due to the severity of the injuries, the Toll rescue helicopter was called to the location. It landed at the nearby King George V oval to facilitate the airlift.
The boy was transported by helicopter to Sydney Children's Hospital in a stable condition, ensuring he received prompt medical attention for his wounds.
