Bagel O's and Running with Thieves Announce Exciting Fremantle Collaboration

Western suburbs cult favourite bagel dealer Bagel O's is heading south of the river for a special weekend pop-up event, partnering with Fremantle brewery and distillery Running with Thieves. This unique collaboration will take place from April 11 to April 12, offering brand new bagel flavours and a limited edition Japanese lager exclusively for the occasion.

Exclusive Menu Items and Potential Permanent Residency

Bagel O's owner Shahryar Tehrani revealed to PerthNow that this collaboration could potentially lead to a permanent Fremantle location. "We can't wait to see how south of the river customers react," Tehrani stated. "A Fremantle shop may be on the horizon." The team will utilize Running with Thieves' internal café space to serve two exclusive new bagel creations featuring some truly innovative ingredients.

The special menu items include:

  • A botanical gin-cured Tasmanian salmon lox bagel
  • A bourbon BBQ pastrami melt featuring on-site aged Running with Thieves bourbon

These exclusive bagels will be available at all Bagel O's regular locations in Mt Lawley and Subiaco, as well as at the Running with Thieves venue in Fremantle during the pop-up weekend.

Limited Edition Beverage and Creative Partnership

The collaboration will also feature a limited edition run of Bagel O's Japanese Lager, with only 100 cartons available for purchase. "This is super exciting for us," Tehrani expressed. "We connected organically through a mutual friend and instantly clicked — great vibes, great booze, great food. Our head chef Tristan loved the challenge and cooked up these bold pairings just for Running with Thieves' craft spirits vibes."

Bagel O's originally opened in Mt Lawley in 2022 and quickly gained viral popularity online for its Los Angeles-inspired atmosphere and crowd favourite Bronsalini breakfast bagel. This marks their first major collaboration with a Fremantle establishment.

Perfect Timing for Expansion

The collaboration arrives at an opportune moment for Running with Thieves, as the venue recently received council approval to expand its internal floor space and create a new licensed beer garden. Running with Thieves national sales manager David McKenna described the partnership as a "match made in heaven."

"At the end of the day, we just love great Aussie made products and seeing what we can create together," McKenna explained. "They make cracking bagels and we make cracking beer, a match made in heaven."

The Marine Terrace venue in South Fremantle already houses a comprehensive facility including:

  1. A fully operational brewery
  2. A distillery producing craft spirits
  3. A bar and restaurant area
  4. A café space
  5. A retail store

The approved expansion plans will increase the internal licensed floor area by approximately 270 square meters and create a licensed beer garden accommodating up to 50 people in a converted carparking area at the eastern entrance. While the main venue can remain open until midnight, the new beer garden will close at 10pm each evening.

Merchandise and Creative Expression

"As a brewery and distillery, we're always up for getting a bit creative when it comes to food and drinks," McKenna added. "For us, this is a bit of a passion project. We do it for the love of the craft, and we've loved working alongside like-minded brands. We've even taken it a step further with a limited-edition T-shirt and a custom beer can, which has been a great excuse to flex those creative muscles."

The weekend pop-up will be available across three locations—Fremantle, Mt Lawley, and Subiaco—with the two exclusive bagels, limited edition Japanese lager, and special merchandise available until supplies are completely exhausted. This collaboration represents a significant moment for both brands as they explore new creative territories and potentially expand their reach to new customer bases across Perth.
