Farra Review: A Serene Greek Dining Experience Inside Hyde Perth

When traveling, hotel restaurants often fall to the bottom of my list. Why confine yourself indoors when a city's streets beckon with hidden gems and adventures? Yet, Farra, nestled within the newly opened Hyde Perth, defies this norm. During a recent stay, we found it to be an exception worth savoring—a destination in itself that complements the hotel's cozy rooms and impeccable service, though robes were notably absent.

A Zen-Like Ambiance

Upon entering Farra, a sense of tranquility washes over you. Soft music drifts through the air, staff glide in nature-toned uniforms, and the interiors feature calming curves and muted colors. Seated by the window, we had front-row views of a brewing storm that never quite arrived, allowing us to focus entirely on the menu and food—a task made easy by the consistently excellent dishes.

Standout Dishes That Delight

For me, the tomato kefedes ($20) stole the show. These vegetarian takes on traditional Greek meatballs, served with smoked yogurt, were so addictive I nearly ordered a second plate. My partner raved about the Cape Grim sirloin ($65), cooked to a perfect medium-rare with a herby mint and basil verde crust and a dollop of smoked eggplant.

Between courses, attentive waitstaff with velvety accents shared their favorites, and they had great taste. The chargrilled octopus ($26) was among the best we've ever had—plump, tender tentacles with a nice char, balanced by thin slices of orange. A heirloom tomato salad ($20) also impressed, with creamy stracciatella and finely diced green olives adding a salty kick that tomatoes adore.

A Place to Linger

Typically, we're fast diners—eat, pay, and dash. But at Farra, we lingered, reminded that sometimes the best spots are right under your nose. This calm and cool hotel restaurant is well worth your time, offering a serene escape from the hustle of exploration.

The verdict: 18/20
