Two New Riverfront Venues to Open in Applecross in 2026
Bar Olé & The Heart to Open on Applecross Foreshore

Perth's vibrant hospitality scene is set for a major boost with the announcement of two new riverfront venues slated to open in the southern suburb of Applecross in 2026.

The family-run Esqulant Leisure Group (ELG), fresh from launching the Yanchep Beach Club in December 2025, is turning its attention south. The group has confirmed the upcoming openings of Bar Olé Applecross in March 2026 and The Heart Applecross in early May 2026.

A Prime Riverfront Location

The two venues will occupy a combined area of nearly 800 square metres on Canning Beach Road. This premium position promises uninterrupted views across the Swan River towards the Perth CBD skyline, forming a key part of the evolving hospitality precinct at the base of the Riviere Residences.

The development is expected to create approximately 100 new jobs and aims to serve local Applecross residents, holidaymakers, and the wider Perth community. Owner Ryan Esqulant expressed strong confidence in the local market, stating the move reflects the group's belief in Perth's growing dining and entertainment sector.

Two Distinct Culinary Experiences

Under the culinary direction of executive chef Steven Finch, both venues will focus on seasonal local produce but offer distinctly different experiences.

Bar Olé Applecross will specialise in modern Spanish cuisine. The tapas-style menu will feature dishes like paella, skewers, and woodfired meats, complemented by sangria and a drinks list including Carlton and United Breweries taps, local Western Australian wines, and Spanish imports. The venue, designed for around 250 guests, will boast an open-style kitchen showcasing wood-flame cooking.

The Heart Applecross will offer an upmarket pub-style atmosphere for about 300 patrons. It will combine classic pub elements with ELG's popular Japanese-inspired UBON menu, known from its sister venue, Hillarys Beach Club. Features will include a central horseshoe bar, private dining spaces, and screens for live sports.

Expanding a Local Portfolio

Upon completion, these venues will become the sixth and seventh in ELG's expanding portfolio. The group is led by Ryan and Nikki Esqulant, with support from executive managers John Evans, Samson Brent, and Sophia Esqulant.

The project is a collaboration with Edge Development, with construction handled by Hickey Construction and interior design by Hilliam Architects. This expansion signifies a significant investment in Perth's southern riverside precinct, promising to deliver new dining and social destinations with world-class views.
