Annual BBQ Battle Moves to New Rodeo Grounds

The annual BBQ battle in Townsville is set to sizzle at a new location this year, moving to the city's rodeo grounds with an expanded menu and a record number of participants. Organisers have confirmed the event will take place on Saturday, August 19, from 10am to 6pm, promising a day of fierce competition and mouth-watering flavours.

New Venue and Enhanced Experience

After years at the town hall precinct, the BBQ battle will now be held at the Townsville Rodeo Grounds, offering more space for cooking stations, seating, and entertainment. The move allows for a larger setup, including dedicated areas for pitmasters, live music stages, and family-friendly activities.

Expanded Menu and Competitors

This year's event features an expanded menu with categories for beef brisket, pork ribs, chicken, and a new vegetarian section. Over 50 teams will compete for the title of Grand Champion, up from 35 last year. Local restaurants and food trucks will also offer their signature dishes, making it a culinary extravaganza.
