Stirling's Inaugural Festival of Motoring Set to Showcase 1000+ Vehicles and Rich Heritage
The City of Stirling is gearing up to host its very first Festival of Motoring later this month, a major automotive celebration that promises to bring together more than 1000 vehicles and 100 motoring clubs from across the region. This exciting new event is designed to highlight Stirling's deep and vibrant automotive history while providing a fun-filled weekend for enthusiasts and families alike.
Event Details and Location
Scheduled for the weekend of March 28–29, the Stirling Festival of Motoring will take place at Robinson Reserve in Tuart Hill. Organizers anticipate that thousands of visitors will flock to the venue to experience this unique gathering, which marks a significant collaboration between two well-established motoring showcases.
Collaborative Effort and Featured Attractions
For the first time ever, the MTAWA Cars and Culture event and the Shannons Perth Classic Car Show will run consecutively under the same banner, creating a comprehensive festival experience. On Saturday, attendees can explore a free pop-up display titled MTAWA Cars and Culture – an Automotive Journey, which will feature vehicles that trace Stirling's automotive evolution through the decades.
The festival will include three specially themed display hubs, each celebrating different aspects of the area's car culture:
- Classic Surf: This hub pays homage to Scarborough's iconic beach culture, showcasing panel vans, vintage FJs, and classic beach buggies that evoke the coastal lifestyle.
- Market Grounds: Reflecting the region's agricultural roots and European influences, this area will display classic utes, trucks, and Italian motoring icons that have left their mark on local history.
- Old School Car Yard: A tribute to the legendary Scarborough Beach Road dealership strip, featuring beloved models such as Valiants, Monaros, and Minis that have become part of automotive folklore.
Shannons Perth Classic Car Show Celebrates 55th Year
On Sunday, the Shannons Perth Classic Car Show will mark its 55th anniversary with an impressive display of over 1000 vehicles. The show will run from 10am to 3pm and will include a diverse array of automobiles, such as vintage and classic cars, modern collectables, rare sports cars, hot rods, motorcycles, trucks, and buses. Admission is priced at $15 for adults, $12 for concession card holders, and free for children under 16 years old.
Community Support and Enthusiast Participation
With strong backing from the City of Stirling, Mayor Mark Irwin expressed his enthusiasm for the festival, describing it as poised to become one of Western Australia's premier motoring events of the year. "The Stirling Festival of Motoring will showcase our local car culture and have something for everyone across the weekend," Mr. Irwin stated. "Like so many communities in WA, we have a strong connection to car culture in Stirling, from our working vehicles to generations of classic cars that have been driven along our coast."
In addition to the vehicle displays, the weekend will offer a range of food vendors, licensed bars, live music, and family-friendly entertainment to ensure a memorable experience for all attendees. Non-car club enthusiasts from Perth are encouraged to register their vehicles for display in the Sunday event's Octane & Caffeine section, with a registration fee of just $15.
