A 48-year-old man from Greenwood has been formally charged following a shocking alleged hit-and-run incident in the Perth central business district that left a pedestrian with serious injuries.

Details of the Alleged Incident

Western Australia Police state the event occurred at approximately 3:15 pm on Wednesday afternoon. The driver was operating a white Ford Ranger utility on the Mounts Bay Road on-ramp to the Mitchell Freeway when he allegedly struck a 44-year-old woman who was crossing the road.

The pedestrian sustained significant injuries from the collision. Emergency services promptly attended the scene and rushed the woman to Royal Perth Hospital for urgent medical treatment.

Charges Laid and Court Date Set

Investigators allege that the driver did not stop at the scene to assist the injured woman or report the incident. The Greenwood man has since been charged with two serious offences.

The charges are:

  • One count of failing to report an incident occasioning grievous bodily harm.
  • One count of failing to stop and ensure assistance was received after an incident occasioning grievous bodily harm.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Perth Magistrates Court on January 5, 2026.
