Fatal Head-On Crash on Bruce Highway Claims Life
One man has been killed and another critically injured following a devastating head-on collision on the Bruce Highway near Burpengary, north of Brisbane. The incident occurred late on Tuesday night, around 10:30 pm, when multiple vehicles were observed travelling southbound in the northbound lanes of the major highway.
The crash involved an Isuzu truck and a Honda Accord. The Honda, which was being driven in the correct direction, collided with the truck shortly after the wrong-way vehicles were spotted. Tragically, the driver of the Honda, a 26-year-old man from Redcliffe, sustained critical injuries and died at the scene.
The driver of the Isuzu truck suffered life-threatening injuries and was urgently transported to hospital for medical treatment. Queensland Police have launched a comprehensive investigation into the crash, with a key focus on determining why the vehicles were travelling in the wrong direction on the highway.
Authorities are appealing to the public for any information or dashcam footage that could assist with the investigation. This tragic event underscores the severe dangers of wrong-way driving on busy roadways.
Drive-By Shooting in Western Sydney Sparks Manhunt
In a separate incident, police have initiated a manhunt after a drive-by shooting targeted a home in St Clair, western Sydney. The attack occurred in the early hours of Wednesday morning, approximately 12:45 am, when shots were fired into a residence on Menzies Circuit.
Miraculously, one person inside the home at the time was not injured, narrowly avoiding harm as the bullets struck the property. Shortly after the shooting, emergency services were alerted to a car fire on Freeman Street in Colyton.
The vehicle was found well alight and was extinguished by firefighters. It has since been seized for forensic examination as part of the ongoing investigation. Police are working to establish whether the drive-by shooting and the burnt-out car are connected incidents.
