Severe Storm Alert: Perth Regions Brace for Damaging Winds and Hail
WA Storm Alert: Act Now as Severe Weather Hits

Residents across several key regions in Western Australia are being urged to take immediate action as a severe weather alert is issued for Wednesday. The Bureau of Meteorology has raised the alarm for damaging winds, large hailstones, and heavy rainfall.

Immediate Action Required for Safety

The official storm advice was released by the Bureau of Meteorology just before 11am on Wednesday, November 19, 2025. The warning specifically targets communities in Northam, Dowerin, Gingin, Wongan Hills, Armadale, and Beverley. Authorities have stated that people in these areas need to act now to ensure their safety, with the severe weather forecast to begin from late Wednesday morning and continue throughout the afternoon.

The Department of Fire and Emergency Services is advising locals to secure their properties immediately. Outdoor furniture, trampolines, and other loose items must be tied down or moved indoors, as they could be picked up and thrown by the destructive winds, potentially causing damage to homes and property.

Weather System Behind the Storms

According to the Bureau of Meteorology, this severe thunderstorm activity is being driven by a trough and an embedded low-pressure system moving across the west coast. This meteorological setup is the primary cause of the dangerous conditions expected to hit the region.

The good news for Perth residents is that this wild weather is predicted to be short-lived. BoM forecasts that the scattered storms will only last for one day. Thursday is expected to see a return to partly sunny conditions with a top temperature of 27C.

A BoM forecaster provided a succinct outlook, noting, “Blue skies will return for most of Perth on Thursday, though the Hills could experience maybe a drop or two.”
