Five children have been rushed to hospital following a frightening incident in Sydney's south-west, where a jumping castle was lifted by a gust of wind and blown over a fence.
Emergency Response in Bradfield
Emergency services were called to a residential property on Kelvin Park Drive in Bradfield at approximately 9:35am on Saturday after reports the inflatable structure had become detached. Police and paramedics arrived promptly at the scene to assess the situation.
Children Assessed and Transported
Five children – comprising three nine-year-olds, a twelve-year-old, and a thirteen-year-old – were evaluated by NSW Ambulance paramedics. Fortunately, all sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were transported to hospital in stable conditions.
Safety Investigation Underway
SafeWork NSW, the state's workplace health and safety regulator, has attended the scene to commence an investigation into the circumstances of the accident. This incident has tragically evoked memories of the Hillcrest Primary School tragedy in December 2021, where six children – Zane Mellor, Peter Dodt, Addison Stewart, Jalailah Jayne-Maree Jones, Jye Sheehan, and Chace Harrison – lost their lives in a similar jumping castle accident in Tasmania.
The community is being reminded of the importance of stringent safety measures for such recreational equipment, especially during windy conditions.
