Violence Erupts During Black Friday Sales
A violent stabbing at a busy Adelaide shopping centre on Black Friday has resulted in two teenagers being charged and two young men hospitalised with serious injuries. The incident forced the evacuation of the Elizabeth City Centre in Adelaide's north shortly after 2pm on Friday, creating chaos during one of the year's busiest retail periods.
Serious Injuries and Swift Arrests
Emergency services rushed to the mall following reports of a physical altercation involving four males. A 16-year-old boy suffered a stab wound to the leg and remains in a life-threatening condition at the Royal Adelaide Hospital. A 20-year-old man was stabbed in the abdomen but is currently in a stable condition.
Police quickly apprehended one suspect at the scene. A 16-year-old boy from Elizabeth Downs was charged with two counts of causing serious harm and affray. The fourth male involved initially fled but was tracked down by detectives at a Craigmore home around 9.45pm that evening.
Weapon Recovered, Bail Denied
The 17-year-old boy was arrested without incident and charged with aggravated assault and affray. Authorities have confirmed they recovered the knife allegedly used in the attack. Both teenagers have been refused bail and are expected to appear in the Youth Court on Monday.
Detective Superintendent Amit Sareen expressed shock that such violence occurred in a crowded shopping centre, particularly during Black Friday sales when the mall was filled with shoppers. Police have stressed this was not a random attack, confirming that all parties involved were known to each other.
