Fremantle Christmas Concert Raises Funds for Homeless, Marks Orchestra's 20th Year
Fremantle Christmas Concert to Support Homeless Community

A special Christmas concert in Fremantle this weekend will channel festive cheer into vital support for the city's homeless population.

All profits from the event, a collaboration between Rotary Attadale and the Fremantle Chamber Orchestra (FCO), will be directed to agencies working with people experiencing homelessness in the port city.

Celebrating Music and Milestones

The concert, scheduled for 3pm on Sunday, December 7, at the Fremantle Town Hall, also serves as the finale for the FCO's 20th-anniversary celebrations. The program promises a classical feast, featuring works by Mozart, Marcello, and Bottesini.

Audiences will witness the solo debut of accomplished oboist Niamh Dell with the orchestra. Dell, who has recently returned to Perth after years abroad, will perform Marcello's Oboe Concerto and the Adagio from Albinoni's Oboe Concerto 2.

Her impressive career includes a Bachelor from the Sydney Conservatorium, first-class honours from UWA, a Masters in Frankfurt, and a PhD from the University of York in the UK. She performs with the Strasbourg collective lovemusic and has graced stages with ensembles like Ensemble Modern and the WA Symphony Orchestra across Australia, the UK, and Europe.

Double Duty and Dedicated Musicians

Adding to the concert's highlights, John Keene will pull double duty, both conducting the orchestra and performing as the soloist in Bottesini's romantic Double Bass Concerto No. 2.

The program will also feature longtime FCO violinist Rebecca Glorie, who has been with the orchestra since its very first concert in 2005. She will perform the Meditation for Violin from Jules Massenet's 'Thais'.

How to Support the Cause

This festive event offers the community a chance to enjoy world-class music while making a direct difference. Tickets are priced at $50 for adults, $40 concession, and $20 for under 18s.

They can be purchased through Trybooking or by contacting Natalie on 0438 933 250.

By bringing together musical excellence and community spirit, the concert aims to provide both a memorable cultural experience and crucial practical support for some of Fremantle's most vulnerable residents this holiday season.
