Violent Altercation on Quiet Street
The incident occurred on Whyalla Cl in Bracken Ridge at approximately 7.05pm. According to police, an altercation broke out between two men, aged 37 and 33, both from the suburb of Darra.
The confrontation turned violent, resulting in the 37-year-old man suffering a serious stab wound to the chest. Emergency services rushed him to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital, where he remains in a life-threatening condition.
Second Man Hospitalised Under Police Guard
The 33-year-old man involved was also transported to hospital. He was taken under police guard due to what authorities described as a "medical condition." Police confirmed he is assisting with their inquiries into the shocking event.
Investigators have stated the two men are known to each other. They have moved to reassure the local community, emphasising that there is no ongoing threat to the public following the isolated incident.
Resident Describes Chilling Scene
The violence unfolded directly outside the home of Bracken Ridge resident Alanna Stevens, who provided a harrowing account to The Courier Mail. Stevens reported hearing shouting and the sound of smashing glass before witnessing the aftermath.
"I saw him fall to the ground and he was bleeding from the abdomen," Stevens said. She described the disturbing sight of a bloodied handprint left on her driveway, a stark reminder of the trauma.
"Watching a guy bleed out on your front lawn is not what anyone wants to see," she added, capturing the distress felt by residents on the typically quiet street.
Forensic officers examined the scene as part of the ongoing investigation. Police are continuing their work to piece together the exact sequence of events that led to the life-threatening attack.
