A 42-year-old Adelaide man has been remanded in custody after being charged with the murder of his wife, following a tragic incident at their suburban home on Sunday night.
Emergency Response to Northfield Home
South Australia Police were called to a residence in Northfield, Adelaide, following reports of a domestic assault at approximately 8:30pm on Sunday. Upon arrival, first responders discovered a 36-year-old woman unconscious inside the property.
Officers immediately commenced CPR in a desperate attempt to revive her. Despite their efforts, the woman, a mother, could not be saved and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Husband Arrested and Charged
Police arrested the woman's 42-year-old husband at the home. He was subsequently charged with murder. The accused faced the Adelaide Magistrates Court on Monday, where he did not apply for bail. The magistrate refused bail, and the man was formally remanded in custody.
He is scheduled to return to court next year for further proceedings. The case has sent shockwaves through the local community.
A "Beautiful" Life Remembered
Friends and neighbours have begun to mourn the loss, describing the victim as a "beautiful" and dedicated wife, mother, and friend. One close friend highlighted her incredible work ethic, telling 7NEWS, "She would work up to 80 hours a week because she loved her job so much."
A neighbour expressed profound shock, stating they had "never had any issues" with the couple and were unaware of any trouble. "We don't hear from them, they don't cause us trouble... We didn't hear screaming, we didn't hear yelling, we didn't hear fighting," the neighbour said, underscoring the silent nature of the alleged domestic violence tragedy.
Detectives continue their investigation at the Adelaide home as the community grapples with the loss.
