The Queensland Fire and Emergency Services (QFES) received multiple calls reporting vegetation fires burning in the Lynam and Alice River areas southwest of Townsville. Fire crews were immediately dispatched to both locations to combat the separate blazes that began threatening rural properties.
At approximately 2:30 PM on Tuesday, emergency services were first alerted to a vegetation fire burning near Lynam Road in Lynam. The Rural Fire Service Queensland (RFSQ) quickly mobilised ground crews and water-bombing aircraft to attack the flames from both the air and ground.
Simultaneously, another fire emergency was unfolding in the Alice River area, where additional fire crews were deployed to contain a separate vegetation blaze.
