A devastating fire ripped through a retirement community in Hamilton Hill in the early hours of Christmas morning, completely destroying one home and damaging two others, with two residents rushed to hospital.

Christmas Day Blaze Erupts in Early Hours

The Department of Fire and Emergency Services was called to the scene on Erpingham Road in Hamilton Hill at approximately 2.45am on Thursday, 25 December 2025. Emergency crews arrived to find one unit fully engulfed, the flames having gutted the property. Two neighbouring homes also sustained significant damage from the intense blaze.

Residents Hospitalised, Police Launch Arson Probe

Two people were transported to hospital for treatment of smoke inhalation following the incident. Authorities have confirmed that no other injuries were reported. The severity of the fire has prompted a major police investigation, with the Arson Squad now involved.

Police are treating the fire as suspicious and are appealing to the public for assistance. Rewards of up to $25,000 are available for information that leads to the identification and conviction of an arsonist in connection with the case.

A police spokesperson has urged anyone with information to make contact immediately. "Arson squad officers urge anyone who saw any suspicious activity in the vicinity of Erpingham Road, or who has any information relating to this fire, to contact Crime Stoppers," the spokesperson said.
